Green Office Policy

Thinkhaus has a Green Office Policy designed to reduce consumption of natural resources and energy usage wherever practically possible. By following the criteria set forth in the policy below, Thinkhaus is able to make a difference. Thinkhaus believes every office can begin with simple changes of habit and save energy and resources at work; these small steps when multiplied make a powerful impact.

Paper

We will strive to be a paperless and carbonless when possible and only buy chlorine-free paper with a higher percentage of post-consumer recycled content.

We will store all company documents and client files on-line.

We will seek to only buy recycled and recyclable products.

No paper will be thrown away; as far as possible, everything will get recycled.

We will request to be removed from the mailing list when we receive unwanted junk mail.

Energy

We will reduce the amount of energy we use as much as possible.

Computers, lights, copiers and printers will be switched off when not in use and heating and ventilation will be used effectively and efficiently with reducing energy consumption in mind.

We will purchase Energy Star products.

The energy consumption of new equipment will be assessed when making purchasing decisions.

We will use eco-web hosting services that are socially conscious.

Office Supplies

We will reduce the amount of office supplies we use and only buy what we really need.

We will look at the environmental criteria of new office supplies and, wherever possible, only buy more environment-friendly products. We will use Apple computers and eco-friendly hardware.

We will purchase furniture made from recycled materials.

Office Maintenance

Office cleaning and maintenance will be as environmentally friendly as possible.

Cleaning products and hygiene services will be assessed for their environmental performance.

Thinkhaus purchases from certified B Corporations, such as Seven Generation and Method.

Any office refurbishment decisions will take the environment into account, including decorating materials and office furniture.

Recycling

All paper and other products that can be recycled will be routinely collected for recycling.

We will endeavour to make anything that we send out to our clients as recyclable as possible.

We will establish an organic compost box and contribute to local recycling programs.

When buying new products, their recyclability will be a key factor.

Rethink Travel

We will use videoconferencing to reduce the need for business travel.

We will endeavour to promote environmentally friendly forms of transport wherever possible.

Printing

We will print on both sides and use the backside of old documents for faxes, scrap paper, or drafts. Avoid color printing and print in draft mode whenever feasible.

We will evaluate printing vendors environmental practices before we work with them.

Personal Habits

We will buy as much organic and local food as possible for haustalk events.

Provide filtered drinking water to reduce bottled-water waste.
